How fantastic that Great Denham Primary School has won this year’s Primary School of the Year award at the Bedford Borough Sports and Physical Activity Awards 2022. Well done to the GDPS team!
Daily activity for classes have been introduced plus there are also greater opportunities for increased physical activity at break and lunch times through the introduction of zones such as table tennis, skipping and different sports on offer each day. As well as girls and boys football so girls get their own days each week to increase participation. The school have bought in sport specialists in to model lessons to the teachers as well as teachers visiting PE teachers in other schools for training. There are sports fixtures 3 – 4 days a week for children in year 5/6. Staff constantly promote the importance of exercise on wellbeing of children and staff. The school also brings in external coaches for more bespoke sports to expose children to different opportunities such as boxing, street dance rugby & more.
