Kings Coronation Weekend – organise a street party to celebrate with neighbours

Planning on celebrating the bank holiday and coronation? Get together with neighbours and hold/host a street party in Great Denham.

To help residents celebrate the Coronation, Bedford Borough Council has waived the usual administration fee for street party road closures.

If you would like to hold a street party over the bank holiday weekend of 6 – 8 May, please apply by 1 April 2023.

Please email road.closures@bedford.gov.uk to request a street closure and we will send you an application form.

If you are organising a street party, we ask you to:

  • allow reasonable pedestrian access at all times
  • allow vehicular access for emergencies at all times – please ensure that you allow enough width on one side of the road for a vehicle to access properties
  • erect road closure signs and barriers before the event and remove them when the event finishes
  • clear the public highway (roads, footways and verges) immediately after the event finishes

We are creating a limited number of road-closed signs that will be ready for collection at the reception at Bedford Borough Hall one week prior to the Coronation weekend. They will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. You can also make your own sign.
